Themes of freedom, culture, and storytelling are present in everything we do. They’re on our walls, in our day-to-day expressions, in the air we breathe, the music we listen to, and the movies we make. We believe these themes are an integral part of our culture and our people; they make us who we are, and to let our stories go untold would be a waste.

Independent film, both locally and on a more global scale, has long been a medium of expression for youth and smaller, less established film creators and enthusiasts. Enter Street Film Festival: a concept Egyptian-based film festival that provides a wider platform for self-expression and storytelling through the art of independent film. By pushing the boundaries of societal norms, it aims to shed light on an already rich culture and bustling community, highlighting the people's stories and celebrating the everyday.

This project was completed at the German University in Cairo under the supervision of MA Sally Ann Skerrett.
