The beauty of the Egyptian Postal Museum is deeply rooted within the history of the people and their everyday culture. Encountering a postage stamp leaves a person with a sense of nostalgia and an eagerness to collect and curate. It’s a gateway to all the stories that have happened and the stories being told today. Right in the heart of Cairo, surrounded everyday with authenticity, the Egyptian Postal Museum is the perfect gate to walk through and see a curated timeline of how Egypt came to be how it is now.
This project was completed at the German University in Cairo, under the supervision of university instructor Dr. Anita Kern
Designed and executed by Aya Nabil, Farida Kamel, and Nouran Abed in 2022

Special thanks to the Advisor to the Chairman of Museum Affairs Dr. Heba Barakat for her valuable input and support throughout the project

The entry hallway of the Egyptian Postal Museum features a center star that serves as a representation of the museum's location and role as Cairo's point zero. The icon of the Egyptian Postal Museum was thus extracted from this iconic star: pieces of the star were deconstructed and used as a guide to create a homing pigeon, the traditional symbol for the Egyptian postal service and the national and historical symbol of prosperity, progression, harmony, and good fortune.
